Deana Martin “Holiday Cheers!” at The Smith Center

Deana Martin

A very dear and personal friend, and the daughter of an iconic entertainer Dean Martin and an internationally celebrated performer in her own right, vocalist Deana Martin will take her audience on a musical sleigh ride of classic and contemporary yuletide tunes in her festive, holiday shows on Sunday, Dec. 8 at The Smith Center at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. This electrifying musical revue toasts the season with beloved melodies honoring her father and other musical greats, with timeless staples such as “Winter Wonderland,” “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” and “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” alongside swinging hits such as “Gee Baby at 2pm & 6pm Ain’t I Good To You” and “The Lady Is a Tramp.”

Performing sold-out concerts worldwide, Deana has recorded numerous albums that topped the Billboard charts, including her debut album “Memories Are Made Of This,” which remained in the top 10 for 40 consecutive weeks. An instantly recognizable voice with her glittering take on the Great American Songbook, Deana’s albums have broken sales records and earned critical acclaim.

Deana Martin

In 2018 Martin was bestowed the official title of “Trobairitz by the Friar’s Club in New York City. This coveted title has previously been awarded to several other esteemed female entertainers, including Liza Minnelli, Barbra Streisand, Dionne Warwick and Kristin Chenoweth.

Deana is undeniably authentic – a living connection to the greatest era in entertainment – touring and hosting her popular celebrity roasts, celebrating famous friends all over the country. Of course, this great friend and I go “Waaaayyyyy,” back to those wonderful times when the “Rat Pack” was alive and swinging at the Sands Hotel (now of course gone like all those great hotels of yesterday).  All I can tell ya, gang, is this is a must-see musical presentation by one of the best, Deana Martin.  Tickets are available online at thesmithcenter.com or by phone at 702-749-2012.

THIS AND THAT QUICKLY:

Macy’s and Make-A-Wish will celebrate the 12th annual National Believe Day at Macy’s Downtown Summerlin on Friday, December 6 at 3:00 p.m., with a parade starting promptly at 3:30 p.m. featuring Southern Nevada wish kids who will be  joined by officers from Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Clark County Fire  Department and Santa Claus. Macy’s Believe campaign is a national initiative that raises more than $1 million annually for Make-A-Wish via a letters-to-Santa campaign.  Our local  Make-A-Wish chapter receives tens of thousands of dollars from this initiative every year to  help grant wishes to children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Macy’s Believe campaign invites “Believers” of all ages to bring their letters to Santa to their local Macy’s store or send online at macys.com/believe. For every letter received now through Dec. 24, Macy’s will donate $1, up to $1 million, to Make-A-Wish. On National Believe Day only, Macy’s will donate $2 for every letter submitted. For more information about Macy’s Believe campaign, visit macys.com/believe.

Make-A-Wish grants life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. According to a 2011 U.S. study of wish impact, most health professionals surveyed believe a wish-come-true has positive impacts on the health of children. Kids say wishes give them renewed strength to fight their illness, and their parents say these experiences help strengthen the entire family. Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada is part of one of the world’s leading children’s charities, serving children living in Clark, Nye, Lincoln and Esmeralda Counties. With the help of generous donors and more than 500 volunteers, Make-A-Wish Southern Nevada has granted more than 2,100 wishes since its inception in 1996. Visit Make-A-Wish at snv.wish.org.
