Deana Martin will be returning to The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, and its wonderful Cabaret Jazz venue, where she will present her Annual Christmas Show, this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, Dec. 20-22. Martin will take the audience on a musical sleigh ride, filled with classic yuletide tunes, and songs honoring her legendary father, Dean Martin, and some other great performers like Dean’s pals, Frank and Sammy. Deana offers a toast to the Holidays with some of the greatest songs ever written.

Deana achieved success early in her career in films, theater and television, then quickly added to her repertoire — recording artist, best-selling author, nationally syndicated radio host, licensed pilot, and entrepreneur.  As an internationally acclaimed entertainer, hit recording artist, and an in-demand performer playing to sold-out audiences worldwide, Deana has become an instantly recognizable voice and figure in the pantheon of American singers. Her “White Christmas” CD was another chart buster, released in 2011, and stayed on the Top 10 chart throughout the entire Christmas season. Amazon reports that her last three albums have remained in high demand and are on its hit list. Deana will sing a number of her favorite songs from the Christmas album. Martin just released her latest album, “Destination Moon,” which includes a very special version of the song, “True Love,” a duet featuring her dad, Dean. It is available by going to Deana’s website or iTunes.

Seeing Deana Martin in a live performance, you get the sense that there is nothing she cannot do.  At The Smith Center, Deana will sing many of the Christmas songs she grew up listening to when her dad and his buddies (Frank and Sammy) would get together to celebrate Christmas. Tickets, ranging from $37.00 to $59.00 may be purchased by calling the Smith Center box office, 702-749-2000 or via The Smith Center’s Website.

Skip The Strip and enjoy an intimate evening of dining, drinking and dancing with Pia Zadora. Pia will provide the soundtrack to your New Year’s celebration at “Pia’s Place,” inside Piero’s Italian Cuisine, 355 Convention Center Drive, Tuesday, December 31, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Enjoy hearty Italian cuisine, while Zadora and music director, Vincent Falcone, and her band, perform classics and standards from the American Songbook.  There is a two drink minimum in “Pia’s Place;” and you must be 21 with valid I.D. Zadora is a Golden Globe winner, GRAMMY Award® nominee, ShoWest winner, and an accomplished singer, film and Broadway star, which pretty well describes Pia Zadora. She has been performing since the age of six, and for those who have seen her in concert, what comes to mind first and describes this multi-talented performer is simply this: Pia Zadora is the complete entertainer.

Piero’s Italian Cuisine opened in 1982 and today, some 31 years later, remains one of Las Vegas’ most notable restaurants favored by the city’s influencers, celebrities and founding families.  Old school Vegas and hip all at once, Piero’s has earned a Zagat Award, Jerry Lewis Five Star Award, Five Star Diamond Award, and American Express Platinum Fine Dining Award, as well as the DiRona Award (Distinguished Restaurants of North America). The other night, this reporter, stopped in to see one of our favorite people, and guess who were among a slew of celebrities sitting in the audience (to just show you that you never know who will be where and when): Rich Little, Steve Rossi, and Zowie Bowie, who all got up and performed. The restaurant is open for dinner, daily from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m. For more information, visit www.piazadora.com. or follow her on Twitter @OfficialPiaZ. And check it all out at www.PierosCuisine.com.

A quick note about another very talented friend of mine, Michael Shane, who’ll be doing his thing on the piano at the Bootlegger Bistro this Thursday, Dec. 19 from 5:30 p.m., until he can’t warble those tunes any more. I have compared this particular entertainer, in previous reviews, to the late, great Oscar Levant (who was a favorite of The Man, Frank Sinatra). Take a chance and go see this guy, and once you do you’ll be hooked like me.

Well, gang, here is wishing everyone out there a lot of Peace in the World (I keep hoping), a Wonderful and Merry Christmas with Your Loved Ones, and may you have all your Wishes Come True in 2014.

I’m outa here!
