THIS AND THAT QUICKLY:

uncommons

UnCommons, the new 40-acre urban community in Southwest Las Vegas, will officially welcome Mercadito, a Cuban bodega, with its grand opening on Thursday, Dec. 1. Located at 6815 Tom Rodriguez St. Suite 110, Mercadito will kick off its opening celebrations with free sandwiches, a drawing to win Vegas Golden Knights game tickets and more special offerings.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Mercadito to UnCommons and celebrate their opening with them next month,” said Matter Real Estate Group Partner Jim Stuart. “Mercadito will bring unmatched Cuban flair and cuisine not only to our neighborhood, but to the Greater Las Vegas community.”

The 1,000-square-foot market will serve as a destination for the community, offering everything from everyday personal items to unique novelties. The bodega will offer Cuban staples such as cold and hot-pressed sandwiches, empanadas and pastries crafted by Chef Dennis Martinez Miranda, a Las Vegas resident who was born and raised in Cuba.

“Growing up in Cuba, a mercadito or bodega was our corner store, a market where we could enjoy a great sandwich, pastries, coffee and buy some home necessities,” said Martinez Miranda. “Our most famous in Cuba was the Bodequita del Medio, or a little market in the middle of the block, and this is where the inspiration came from. I am very excited to bring this nostalgic concept from my childhood to UnCommons and provide the community with the convenience and tasty snacks that I enjoyed growing up.”

Beginning at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, Mercadito will offer a complimentary 305 Sandwich, the bodega’s signature Cuban sandwich, for the first 100 customers. On Tuesday, Dec. 2, Mercadito will offer buy-one-get-one free for all sandwiches. Additionally, all patrons who make a purchase at the bodega during its first two days of opening will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win two Club Seat tickets to the Vegas Golden Knights game against the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday, Dec. 21. On Monday, Dec. 5, Mercadito will host a pop-up featuring surprise giveaways with Resid3ncy, a lifestyle hat brand dedicated to celebrating the cities in which people live.

Mercadito will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Sunday. For the latest news and updates, follow Mercadito on Instagram. Mercadito is among the first of many remarkable food and beverage tenants to open at UnCommons, joining the beloved boba tea shop, Teaspoon; heirloom coffee roaster and pioneer, Urth Caffé; plus, many more to open soon.

With renovations currently underway, the restaurant will be temporarily closed now through Saturday, Nov. 26. Batch will unveil a reimagined design of both the interior and exterior when Table 34 reopens on Monday, Dec. 5.

“Like so many Las Vegans, Table 34 has long been one of my favorite local restaurants,” said Batch Hospitality partner, Evan Glusman. “Our intention is not to reinvent, but to reinvigorate and we look forward to not only enhancing the experience for the restaurant’s loyal guests, but also welcoming first-time guests to Table 34.”

Table 34 first opened its doors in 2004 and quickly became a local favorite for lunch and dinner, serving gourmet American comfort food within a contemporary setting. Renovations will reveal a space awash in modern rustic charm, showcasing natural materials and dark, natural wood flooring juxtaposed by vibrant pop art along its walls. Guests will also be able to experience Table 34’s expanded bar, featuring new white granite countertops and 12 total bar seats, plus three adjacent cocktail tables.

“Our goal is to remain true to the ethos that has made Table 34 a local sensation for almost two decades, while introducing new dishes and design to elevate the guest experience,” said Batch Hospitality partner, Constantin Alexander. “Our team and the incredible team that have been with the restaurant for years will continue to focus on making every guest’s visit an unforgettable one.”

In addition to its updated design, Table 34 will introduce a refreshed menu built on the restaurant’s roots in farm-to-table cuisine, plus a new wine list and contemporary bar program. A full reveal of the Table 34 menu is set to be announced soon, promising an array of new dishes alongside signature Table 34 favorites. The team will also debut a new, sure-to-impress cocktail and wine menu featuring exceptional new libations and rare wines. Additional details on the cocktails, wine and beverage program are forthcoming.

Batch Hospitality was founded by Glusman and Alexander with an emphasis on creating and operating innovative and differentiated concepts in the hospitality industry. Glusman brings over 17 years of experience in hospitality and currently serves as the operating manager of Las Vegas’ iconic Piero’s Italian Cuisine.
