After a well-received opening on the Las Vegas Strip in December, “The Phat Pack Show,” has announced that the show is going dark for an uncertain amount of time. “Our collaboration with EMI Entertainment did not work out as we had hoped, and it is our understanding that EMI is no longer part of the Windows Showroom at Bally’s,” says Bruce Ewing. “We are currently in discussions with the other producers who are working in that room to bring show back within the next few months,” Bruce Ewing, representative and singer in the production, said. “If that doesn’t work out, we will be open to looking for a new venue, or even hope to present our show around town in weekly engagements.”
“The Phat Pack” opened at the Plaza Hotel (Downtown Las Vegas) in late November 2012, to amazing reviews, and received standing ovations nightly. It was named LV Review Journal Editor’s Pick for “Best Of Las Vegas 2013 – Best All Around Performers” After closing at the Plaza almost a year later, the show was picked up by EMI Entertainment, and moved to the Bally’s Windows Showroom in December 2013. Again, it opened to amazing reviews, and an even better audience response than the earlier venue. The only reason the show is going dark is because of the management changeover.
On Sunday, February 23rd, 2014, a benefit will be held just off the Las Vegas Strip for, Roos-N-More Zoo of Moapa Valley. It will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at “DBS Pong & Pool Hall, l” inside the Harmon entrance to the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. The restaurant is owned by the same group who own Blondies Sports Bar, and they are donating space and labor to host the event. There will be entertainment from local and Strip performers, and it will be emceed by magician Chris “Scandal” Randall, who appears at the Tropicana, the Sapphire Comedy Club, and the Magic Castle. There will also be face painting, photos, drawings, silent auctions, private tables, and anything else that will help raise the $150,000, necessary to build the facilities for visitors to the zoo. Although the more than 300 exotic animals, are well-taken care of, the facility needs to re-do the septic system, and install more bathrooms for visitors.
The Moapa Valley Zoo is a hands-on experience, and caters to families in all manners animal: petting, holding, feeding, and caring for animals, are all part of the guest experience. Should the money for the facilities not be able to be raised, the animals will have to be auctioned off, and the time-frame on this project is short.
Well, gang, that’s about it for this week.
